My Slipcover

My latest creative adventure is slip covering my favorite chair.  It is half done and I really want to finish it today because the sewing of it is all over my house.  Need to clean up the mess.  I found this chair while shopping with my sister Pat and it is the only chair that fits my ailing back!  Love my chair...the upholstery...Not so much!  $50.00 chair...$4.00 fabric!

Car and painting

Yes, I did it!  I bought a 2012 Kia Rio.  As soon as I can get outside to take a photo I will post it.  The salesman (yes, I said Man) was a patient and no pressure kind of guy).  His name was Jerrod so we teased him about wanting a Subway coupon with that car.  I haven't seen that Subway Jerrod in the commercials  lately???Hmmmmm.

I was supposed to go on my very first plein air adventure on Saturday but I missed it.  When will I learn that plein air painters go out in the rain, sleet and snow.  It was thundering and threatened a storm so I stayed home.  Big mistake!  I am such a baby about doing things for the first time.  I will be brave.  I will be brave.

I drive a 1991 Dodge Caravan which I love! It's got a huge dent in the side but it runs perfectly.  It really needs cleaning but instead of that...I am buying a new car!  Well, not a new car but a pre owned one.  I like the Prius because it is a Hybrid and gets 40 or so miles to the gallon.  That's twice what my caravan gets.  I bought my caravan when I had smaller Grandchildren to drive around and now they all have their own cars.

Now, let's have a chat about my car and the huge dent.  I was out to lunch with a few friends in Las Vegas.  I came out of this fine establishment and my car had been assaulted!  I keep meaning to have it fixed but the older my car got the more I kept thinking that I would buy a new one.  Our plan was to buy it in June 2012 but we decided that we could handle it now....Whoopeeee!  Off to deal with the car dealer...which I can bearly take.  If he treats me like I am invisible,,,,  I walk!  Hmmmm..Maybe I will get a saleswoman!

My Poor Neglected Blog!

Yes, I admit it!  I have neglected my blog.  Here is the latest news.  I have been painting with oils and loving it.  I just finished a 6 week course with Jim Glover and I am starting a 10 DVD course with Daniel Edmondson on landscape painting.  I can paint today for a bit but I really need to stop painting and get ready for our vacation on the  Norwegian Spirit to the Western Caribbean.  We have waited for four years to take a vacation and we are leaving on Sunday.

I took this painting to class light night and got some really good suggestions to finish it.  The lower right needs to be darkened.  The other fixes are easy and It will be done.  I have already started on my landscape course so that is a work in progress.

Lovin, Oil

This oil was so fun!  I am working on composition, color and values.  This is a study that I found online.  When I find where I found it, I will give credit where credit is due.  Now I need a snack and I think veggies and balsamic vinegar sounds wonderful.

My DH has a boo boo

Yesterday, Jim went to the doctor's and he has a broken rib.  He fell off of the ladder putting Christmas above the garage and hit his chest on the ladder as he fell.  He thought it was going to be better for a few days but yesterday it became too much.  He now has pain pills and an anti-inflammatory.  As least he got some sleep last night.

Today, I am staying in and painting.  It is too cold for man nor beast.  I really must clean up my studio!  I need to organize!  The same things are in six different places.

The Photos are of the painted postcards I have received so far in my postcard SWAP.  These are not mine so please do not copy.

John in Freedlander Park

Lovin' Oils
Oils!  Yes, I am playing with oils and I think I liked it.  This is no where near done but it's coming along.  Jim is making a place in the basement room for me to paint oils.  Not one more thing will fit in my tiny studio where I paint watercolor. Right now he is out buying some lighting for my space.  My DH is so supportive of the things I love.  We both feel very fortunate to have something to during our retirement that we love.  Jim is a potter and is getting very good at it.

This painting is of my brother John in Freedlander Park where he often walks.  Sorry about the big head John, but I can fix it.  Love you!

Painting Postcards with Barbara

I am at it again only this time with postcards and my sister Barbara.  She is drawing and I am drawing/painting.  I painting a lot of just backgrounds about a year ago and the giraffes were reverse painted with Holbein Shadow green over the yellow.

My african violets were hard because I, once again, lost my place in the painting of the drawing.  I really need to start doing value studies.
